KADŌ
花道

A quiet practice. A bowl prepared with care.
The way of flowers — offered as a gift.

The name

A name that
travels well

花道 — the way of flowers. The Japanese art of ikebana: every stem placed with purpose, silence, intention. We carry that spirit into every bowl we prepare.

In Swiss-German and French the word lands softly, easy to remember. In Indonesian, kado simply means gift. Both meanings live here.

We source ceremonial-grade matcha from single-origin farms in Uji, Kyoto. No blends made to please everyone. Each tea has a name, a terroir, a character.

The preparation

Every bowl is a
small ceremony

Matcha is not made — it is prepared. The difference is intention. We follow the steps of chadō in a form open to anyone who wants to pause.

01

Source

Ceremonial grade, direct from family farms. Selected with care — small harvests, trusted growers, never intermediaries.

02

Sift

Passed through a fine-mesh furui before water is added. In chadō, sifting aerates the powder — it opens the matcha, allowing it to dissolve evenly and produce a finer, more stable foam. A quiet act before the bowl.

03

Whisk

Hand-carved chasen bamboo whisk, water at 75 °C, a brisk W-motion until a fine crema forms across the surface.

04

Serve

Presented in a ceramic chawan, open, no lid. Drink while the foam holds. For our latte, the matcha is prepared the same way — ceremonial grade, whisked properly — then met with steamed milk.

hana — flower, bloom, beauty
